Your data is protected
Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each organisation’s data is logically isolated — one business, or one bureau’s client, can never see another’s. Your data is hosted within the UK and EEA.
Access is controlled
Access is role-based, so people only see what their job needs. Sensitive actions — approving a pay run, exporting a BACS file, viewing bank details or submitting to HMRC — always require step-up verification, and organisations can require multi-factor authentication for every account. Administrative access is granted on a least-privilege basis.
Payroll you can trust
Pay is the one thing you can’t get wrong. Every pay run is computed by a deterministic engine — not a language model guessing — and frozen with a tamper-proof integrity check the moment it’s approved. Mellow does the number-crunching; you stay in control of the actual filing.
Everything is auditable
Sensitive actions are audit-logged, so there’s always a clear record of what happened and who did it.

Your data is backed up regularly, so it’s there when you need it — nothing rests on a single point of failure.

Mellow is independently and regularly security-tested. We can share a detailed security overview with prospective customers under NDA.

Mellow is built to UK and EU GDPR standards, with the principles baked into the product rather than bolted on afterwards. Handling other people’s employment data is a responsibility we take seriously.
A Data Processing Agreement is available for customers who need one, and the sub-processors we rely on are listed in our Privacy Policy — so you always know who touches your data and why.
